Back on the Ice


The Westwood Inn Swan River Manitoba Junior Curling Tour (MJCT) Classic took place last weekend (Oct. 29-30) at the Swan River Community Centre with 10 teams playing for the title.
Ladies’ Event
All local representation at the event was on the ladies’ side with four of the five teams boasting Swan Valley talent.
Team Mangin consisted of skip Bailey Mangin, third Liv Leadbeater, second Madison Branconnier and lead Kyra Kushniryk who were coached by Jennifer Mangin.
Team Meyn consisted of skip Jessi Meyn, third Chloe Haluschak, second Laina Leadbeater, lead Matty Scales and fifth Ava Keller who were coached by Jeffrey Leadbeater.
Team Hadway included third Eden Betcher and lead Bryn Zamzow and Team Terrick included lead Madison Sagert.
Team Meyn finished the round-robin with a 0-4 record while team Mangin sat 1-3. Team Hadway split 2-2 while team Jensen was 3-1 and team Terrick went undefeated at 4-0.
In the championship round Team Jensen defeated Team Hadway in the semi-finals to go on to play Team Terrick in the finals. Team Jensen pulled out the win to come out as champions.
Men’s Event
While there was no local representation on the men’s side, the competitive event say Team Johnson came out on top after defeating Team Freeman.
