Riding for Refuge

On a smokey Saturday morning (Oct. 2), Swan River RCMP Constable Briana Blencowe set out on what ended up being a 51.32 km bike ride from Minitonas around Swan River to Bowsman and back to Swan River as part of the Ride for Refuge, an annual fundraiser that supports charities who provide refuge and hope for vulnerable people. She completed the marathon ride in 2 hours, 5 minutes and 45 seconds with no stops. Blencowe is part of the team Mounties with a Mission and set her personal fundraising goal at $2,000 - $500 over what she was able to raise during last year’s ride. At press time, Blencowe had surpassed her goal by raising $2,185 from 59 doners. If you would like to support the cause, donations will be accepted until Oct. 31 by visiting http://ride.w-ith.me/BRI.
