Aquatic centre prepares to open with restrictions

The Swan Valley Credit Union Aquatic Centre (SVCUAC) will at last be opening its doors to the public beginning on July 7.
The facility is limited to 25 percent capacity, which amounts to 65 people, and a six foot distance between guests must be maintained. As such, visiting the SVCUAC is only available to those who preregister, to ensure that guests will not arrive disappointed and the facility does not exceed the required capacity.
Registration to book time at the pool is already available by contacting the Town of Swan River Recreation
office at 204·734·4141. Leave a message with your name, number, and activity you wish to register
in. A recreation representative will call and confirm your booking. Registration is first come, first served, and registration for any particular week will be open seven days prior to the first activity of that week.
“Free swims are available this month courtesy of Doaks Bulk Fuel and Councillor David Moriaux,” said Town of Swan River Recreation Operations Coordinator Brendan Fedorchuk. “You must still pre-register
for these events, but the swim is free of charge.” The free swims take place for two hours on Wednesday evening and two hours on Saturday evening.
Other rules that will need to be followed include:
• Mask must be worn, except when in the pool. If a medical condition is noted, a face shield must be worn.
• Please show up to the facility changed and ready to swim 15 minutes before the activity start time. Washroom facilities will be available, but change rooms will not.
• Children seven and under must have a parent within arms reach. Limit of one spectator per family.
• Please self-screen before entering the facility. If you develop symptoms, please call and cancel your spot.
• Please bring a water bottle. Due to COVID-19, drinking fountains will be closed, however a bottle
filling station will be available.
The Recreation Department also confirmed that planning for swimming lessons is in the works, and will update the public once more information is confirmed.
For more information on schedule and fees, please see the advertisement on page A16.
