We will Remember

Last week (May 31), Heyes Elementary School students paid homage to the 215 children that were recently found buried on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School by drawing a memorial chalk mural on the sidewalk outside of the front door of the school. In addition to repeating ‘Every Child Matters’ – the slogan connected to Orange Shirt Day held annually in September – the mural also included a heart to represent every child that was found at that site. The artwork is one of many public displays of grieving remembrance that appeared across Canada last week.
