Sixty-six year old Herb Leslie owns a farm just north of Birch River with a registered trap line. On Dec. 26, Leslie went out to check his trap just off Highway 10 in Porcupine Mountain, about five kilometres west of the community of Novra and saw what can only be described to him as a once in a life time catch, a 134 pound male cougar.

The Bowsman Early Learning Centre project is coming together, with several community organizations pitching in to offer monetary support and in-kind donations to help get the daycare built and running.

Minitonas School’s Grade 3, 5, and 7s took time to make memories and have fun when they visited the Swan Valley Credit Union Aquatic Centre on Tuesday (Dec. 18).

Colleen Weibel from Healthy Child Manitoba visited on Wednesday (Dec. 19) where she led the Roots of Empathy (ROE) Program Orientation for young educators. Better Beginnings is promoting the ROE program in Swan Valley as a part of their revamp of the program returning next month.
