Kicking off Football Camp

The days of summer are counting down and the SVRSS Tigers Football team is gearing up for the fall season after hosting their pre-season football camp last week (Aug. 13-17).
All students headed into Grades 6-12 were invited to come out, and they received instruction and training from coaches throughout the week as coaches assessed the talent that was interested in playing on the field this year.
A total of 32 students participated throughout the week.
“I believe we have 12 players returning from last year on the senior team,” said Tigers Head Coach Justin Petelski. “We also saw a great amount of new faces. I’m very glad to see so many younger players as well.”
A few female students also attended the football camp, which has been largely dominated by almost all male players. Petelski added that all the girls that they currently have on the team are in Grade 9 or younger, but they will play on the Tigers junior teams, with possible travel with the senior team.
“I think we have a good balance of returning and new players,” said Petelski. “We have a lot of work to do in the upcoming weeks before our first game on Sept. 13, but I believe we have a good group of players with good team chemistry.
“I’m excited to see what we can accomplish on the field this season.”
