Cheetahs Host Gymnastics Provincials

The Swan Valley Cheetah’s hosted the 2018 Manitoba Gymnastics Provincials for the first time last weekend (April 21 and 22), where clubs from across the province set up in the SVRSS gymnasium to compete and be entertained, by the different skill levels of the gymnasts.
“It was a weekend full of exciting gymnastics,” said head coach Elvis Cardenas.
“The participants, coaches, and judges enjoyed the venue and expressed how well the entire competition was run.”
With many athletes placing in the top four, the Cheetah’s group left the weekend very happy with their skills and progress.
In the Pre-Provincial class; Jada Kujanpaa placed second, Sierra Makasoff followed in fourth, and Ali Kujanpaa stayed right behind her scoring fifth.
In the Advanced class; at nine years old, Kemi Bulycz placed second, and Danica Hrycyk took home third. For 12 year olds, Jillian Hrycyk placed first on vault, and fourth on beam. Neva Zamzow took home three bronze medals with her performances on floor, beam and vault. For 13 year olds, Saige Behrmann placed third on bars and in the 14 year plus category, Rhiana Clelland carried away a bronze on bars.
In the Intermediate class; eight year old Jillian Boychuk took home second overall and Ella Podolski scored a fourth on vault. Nine year old Alyssa Campbell won fourth on vault and Peyton Lehmann took a bronze home for her beam performance.
“We are very proud of how the girls did,” said Cardenas.
“We want to acknowledge the Swan Valley Gymnastics Parent Committee and Board,” she continued. “We definitely have strong support from our gym club and they demonstrated that by trusting what we are doing. We appreciate all your dedication.
“It was a great way to end the season. And, an inspirational way to start off the next one.”
